Re: [Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100

2010-02-27 Thread xcorex
U're wrong. The easiest is to adjust the brightness of
gnome-power-preference to 0%.
By the way, bios update solves the problem.

 Please, refrain putting comments and comments. It's really confusing now.
 This is not yet fixed.
 If you use Gnome, the easiest workaround is to install
 guidance-power-manager (from KDE) and than create a symlink:
 $ cd /usr/bin
 $ mv gnome-power-manager gnome-power-manager.save
 $ ln -sf
 /usr/share/kde4/apps/guidance-power-manager/guidance-power-manager.py
 gnome-power-manager

 First in GDM it starts flashing for a good 30 seconds and then the same
 problem happened when the Gnome session begins.

 Whenever I try to manually change the brightness a bit too fast (using

2010-01-11 Thread xcorex
The easiest way is to create a freedos USB disk with Unetbootin. Two clicks
and done.
It solved the flickering and the scalling problem of my N280 Wind U123.
Unfortunable, it is now only tree levels from 1Ghz to 1.67 and not four from
800 to 1.67Ghz.

[Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100

2009-10-29 Thread xcorex
As a U123 user I can tell, with no irony here, that the best
workaround is a regression to 9.04. And I think that MSI Wind users
should be advised in the release note to remain on Ubuntu 9.04 instead
of upgrading to 9.10.

If you set a nomodeset parameter at boot you can hide the problem, but
cant lift. Moreover, the flickering happens after the screensaver ends.

Medium? Its high! For yesterday!
Its a realy shame this bug for the average user. The netbook got completly
**unusable**. Dosn't it an impressive reason?

By the way, the average user dont know what is a release note. At the least
ubuntu should mention it.
And more, all these workaround suck, cause it need to be done over and over
again at every reboot or problem.
How can we help with informations about this very annoying bug?

Guido,

This nomodeset workaround dont solve the problem. It just hide it a little.
Yes, when the X start there are no more flickering, but, if you lift you will
see your screen flickering again.

So, I think it need a high importance here, cause lot of MSI users will
be affected.

MSI Wind U123 here with an updated beta.
