[Bug 44058] Re: suspend when closing laptop lid doesn't work

2010-05-21 Thread zoomy942
So that confirms it but I'm not sure how to explain it. On kernel
2.6.32, the lid DOES NOT work. however on kernel 2.6.33 and 2.6.34
(tested both) the lid will correctly function, fixing any issues, but
then my broadcom drivers will not reinstall. I get an error 10 when I
reinstall the driver. I'm not sure what that happens, but the bug looks
kernel related.

[Bug 44058] Re: suspend when closing laptop lid doesn't work

2010-05-19 Thread zoomy942
I updated to the 2.6.34 and in fact it works great. good call. I then
had trouble recompiling my broadcom drivers so i went back to 2.6.32
until tomorrow. so on the hp 5101, the 2.6.32 kernel does not work...
but 2.6.34 works great.

2008-11-11 Thread zoomy942
Here is more info from me.

I renistalled Ubuntu (for unrelated reasons) and when my cam did not
work. So, I opened aMSN, ran through the config wizard (which saw my
cam fine) and then closed it and went to cheese. still not working, so
i changed the res to 800x600 (instead of the 1600x1200 it supports) then
it was frozen. force closed it, went to aMSN, ran through the wizard
again and closed it. now cheese works at 800x600. I cannot change the
effects or it will stop working again.

@babayev - can you enable effects and have them actually work?

2008-11-06 Thread zoomy942
This won't sound as technical as everything else but here is what I did
to make it sorta work

install amsn, install cheese.
open cheese and set the res to 800x600
close cheese
open amsn
connect to someone and open the cam - after doign the wizard - it will work
then cheese should work fine too.

Additionally, once cheese is working-ish, if i go and change any
effects, it will freeze and need to be "force quit"

Ubuntu. There are several other cards that are detected and my card
WILL work in the terminal just fine. It is just not managed by the
network applet.

Excellent! I am reporting the bug now about my card. Also, to join
Gnome, do I just join the Bugsquad?

[Bug 289144] Re: Network Manager CDMA support

2008-10-25 Thread zoomy942
Luke,

Will do.. but let me ask you 2 questions before I create a new bug.

A - What is an SVN, and why wait till Jaunty? (Could I offer my help as
a tester of that feature?)

B - How do I subscribe ~lfaraone to it?

Thanks!

[Bug 289144] [NEW] Network Manager CDMA

2008-10-25 Thread zoomy942
Public bug reported:

There are several broadband cards that are auto supported in NM .7;
meaning they will auto dial and NM can control them. First, in the
wizard for broadband cards in the US, there are no CDMA carriers - no
Sprint and no Verizon. My card, a Sierra Wireless MC5720 functions
perfectly is I use the terminal, but NM does not know how to use it.
That's the second thing - why is card (and many others) not being seen
by NM .7? And is there anything I, or anyone else, can do to help get
this working? This is the last small thing in Intrepid that isn't
working for me, great job guys!

I have asked everywhere if this is a feature I should stop hoping for,
or it will be added eventually.

[Bug 275693] [NEW] Gnome Power Management does not update

2008-09-28 Thread zoomy942
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Using Intrepid Alpha 6 - All packages up to date

These are copies and pastes from my thread on the Ubuntu forum...

Post 1 - As of Sept 26, I believe I found a hibernate bug.

What happens is when I use hibernate on my HP 2710p tablet PC, once it
wakes up the battery level is stuck forever - meaning, if i hibernate
her at 44% battery and charge it overnight, the next morning when i wake
her up, the battery life is still stuck at 44%; even though the charge
light is off (which means its fully charged).

Anyone else notice this?

Post 2 - So i have confirmed it with Stand By mode too.

So - 2 questions... should i report this bug on the launchpad? i looked
around and saw some mention of it, - but i feel its a pretty big bug (if
it isnt already known)

next - would the kubuntu alpha have the same trouble? i am curious
becasue i know they use different power managers, but if the info comes
from some sort of ACPI, then they are probably the same.

can anyone else reproduce this bug too? i was using my tablet earlier,
and it said i had 34% left but my battery light was flashing. i figured
i would wait to see who was right and sure enough, my tablet just shut
off.

Post 3 - i found a few posts online that said if i reinstalled the power
manager from a deb and not from the package manager it works better. i
have done this and will report back soon.

heard about people using the kde manager also - i dont know how i wouold
do that. simply unchec the gnome ones in the package manager and install
the kde one? will that hurt anything?
