[Bug 1001166] Re: Remove the -dbg packages

2013-08-06 Thread Daniel Leidert
What was the sense of resolving this as opinion without even
commenting on it or discussing this?

I'm speaking as part of the team, that maintains gelemental for Debian.
The debugging symbols have been added although we refused to do this and
they have never been used -neither in Debian nor in Ubuntu. We can
easily recompile this small package and disable stripping to get a
backtrace if there will ever be a crash.

[Bug 1001166] Re: Remove the -dbg packages

2013-08-06 Thread Étienne Beaulé
This package hasn't seen any crashes. So it is not of the upmost
importance, So IMO there is really no need to diverge from Debian
here. IMO is In My Opinion so Opinion is correct. You may modify
it in favour of an opinion, but there is not really and need to do
either.

[Bug 1001166] Re: Remove the -dbg packages

2013-08-06 Thread Daniel Leidert
The meaning of opinion in launchpad is a bit different to this. It
means: the package maintainers consider the issue as closed, but users
are free to continue the discussion. It stands for a different opinion
between the reporter and the package maintaiuner. Again: I'm speaking as
part of the debichem team and I havn't seen at least a comment on my
request.
