This seems related to machines behind a proxy, and the proxy not being well detected. That's why wget works, but dpkg does not seem able to detect the proxy to download the file. In order to get it working again, paste the following in your terminal and press Enter: cd /tmp wget https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/partner/+files /adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.243.orig.tar.gz sudo /usr/lib /flashplugin-installer/install_plugin /tmp/adobe- flashplugin_11.2.202.243.orig.tar.gz This will download the tarball from Launchpad (as shown in the previous comments), put it in the /tmp folder and install it afterwards. Basically, it will do what flashplugin-installer does. You might have to restart your browser(s) afterwards.
