It's not, really.  it's not very usable, at least the last snapshot.

We'll have to grab this fix in kde4

to be fixed as of KDE 4. Which version of Ubuntu/Kubuntu are you using?

It's Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft. 
Kopete 0.12.3 using KDE 3.5.5

Please advise if it's possible to upgrade to KDE4 and how.
