Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 12.10 64bit fails booting on my Dell Lattitude E6420 notebook.
Previous version 12.04.1 worked fine. After upgrade to 12.10 system no more
boots.
Kubuntu 12.10 64bit DVD does not boot, either, with same symptoms.

When using the old kernel (3.2.0) and initramfs, system boots properly.
Using the new kernel (3.5.0) splash screen shows, dots are moving in the logo.
Then the logo stops moving and then system freezes, I am not able to do
anything at that time. None of the keys work. I have to forcibly shutdown the
machine and restart with 3.2.0 kernel.
