As part of the big bug review for 16.04 LTS I have tested this on 15.10 and the bug is still there. Agreed, however if I intend to buy, I require an account. Why provide search results for people who do not intend to buy? What of the people who subscribe to non amazon services? It's an interesting approach, but I'm not convinced. It's linked to an account where it's searching your own content, such as your documents in Google Docs. There are many online sources (Amazon, iPlayer, music catalogues, etc.) that are publicly searchable.
