I launched alacarte as root user and it did inprouve over the early attempt from the graphic launcher. Then, i made sure that the home dir was with correct ownership chown -R damiano damiano and magically the menu where behaving correctly. I did this on a standard installation, so I don't believe I changed the permissions. However, if someone with a clean default installation can retest this soon, then we can verify that. I will leave the bug open for a short time until someone with a clean system can either confirm or deny the bug.
