Bryce I would like to confirm that on Hardy using the auto protocol detection option it does indeed work as expected on my microsoft comfort mouse 3000. I have since upgraded to 8.04, where the side buttons worked out of box (mostly), but they didn't work in Firefox 2 when I downgraded.
