[Bug 1121176] Re: Kernel panic on resume from sleep

2013-02-14 Thread Peter-jezdec
I've been testing the upstream kernel fairly intensly without a panic,
so I don't think the bug will manifest itself. I'll keep on testing it
and comment here if this changes.

My wifi doesn't work with the upstream kernel; however, I don't know if
that's to be expected.

Oops, actually the wifi does work. Never mind that part of my comment.

[Bug 1121176] Re: Kernel panic on resume from sleep

2013-02-14 Thread Peter-jezdec
Ok, one more try. With the upstream kernel, the wifi works after boot
until the system goes to sleep, after resume, the wifi doesn't work.
However, there are no kernel panics.

[Bug 1121176] Re: Kernel panic on resume from sleep

2013-02-12 Thread Peter-jezdec
I installed v3.8-rc7-raring; however, I am not able to reliably
reproduce this bug. I haven't seen it with this kernel, but It only
happened occasionally before. I think the best I can do is to wait a
week to see if it happens again.

Here is some furthur information:

I am now using ubuntu 12.10, which is a fresh installation. Before that,
I was using 11.10 which was upgraded from 11.4 which was upgraded from
10.10. I never had this problem with any of the previous installations.

The stack trace I saw from the kernel panic included references to USB.
This makes me suspect it is related to a Kingston micro sd to sd memory
card adapter that I usually leave plugged in without a micro sd card in
it. I've never seen the problem when the adapter isn't plugged in;
however, I haven't used the system for any significant amount of time
without it. To make my system as similar as possible to when I saw the
bug, I'll leave the adapter plugging in for now.

[Bug 1121176] Re: Kernel panic on resume from sleep

2013-02-11 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.
