[Bug 116185] Re: battery state not reported correctly
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test: 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux- image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test. --or-- 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD. Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback. ** Tags added: cft-2.6.27 -- battery state not reported correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks Stas. Care to actually open a new bug report? It would seem that you have a slightly different bug and are also on different hardware than the original bug reporter. We can easily mark bugs as duplicates later on if necessary. In the new bug report if you could include exactly what you wrote in https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/116185/comments/10 that would be great. Also, could you please include the required debugging information outlined here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . [Bug 116185] Re: battery state not reported correctly
Hi All, Care to test the latest Hardy Alpaha release. The reason I ask is I believe this issue is resolved with the newer kernel release. The following upstream bug report: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9730 exhibitted similar errors. The patch which resolved that issue was shipped in upstream's linux-2.6.24-rc7-git5. The Ubuntu kernel then pulled in this patch for the 2.6.24-5.8 Ubuntu kernel release. The easiest way to test the new kernel will probably be to download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/ . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you can, please verify if this bug still exists or not and report back your results. General information regarding the release can also be found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Also note that we will keep this report open against the actively developed kernel bug against 2.6.20 and 2.6.22 this will be closed. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix -- battery state not reported correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 116185] Re: battery state not reported correctly
Same problems here running latest Gutsy kernel. I'm attaching my dsdt. I've fixed the dsdt bugs iasl reported, but in the end g-p-m still locks up, and the proc state file for the battery cannot be read. I have to add that the problem for me seems to be the AC connect/disconnect action, the change between ac power and battery is what is causing the problem. Also a user can't end a session because g-p-m is locked. Might as well poke g-p-m to gracefully quit polling the battery if the kernel messes up. ** Attachment added: DSDT + DMESG http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8835512/xhaker.tar.gz -- battery state not reported correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
