Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017. sorry, I can't re-create the problem on my machine. I'm running 13.04b2. I've attached my alsa-info.sh output if it's helpful. ** Attachment added: "output of alsa-info.sh" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1171564/+attachment/3651880/+files/alsa-info.txt.NQMs5yW1SB -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171564 Title: Audio source setting is changed upon login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1171564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1171564] Re: Audio source setting is changed upon login
I am using the driver that comes with Ubuntu repository. If you are certain that the latest driver fixes this bug, please let me know how to install it; I will, and then I will close this bug with the solution being to incorporate the latest version of driver in Ubuntu repos. However, what I understand from that kernel change is that it'll rename the headset item (which currently shows as "speaker") as a "headphone". I don't care about its name. This bug report is not about the label of that device, or whether it is recognized as a headphone or not. I have two output devices, I can use Sound Settings to switch between them, and I expect that if I select one, lock my account, and log back in, that device remains selected (which DOES) and the volume controller controls that device (THIS IS WHAT IS BROKEN). IMHO, that patch doesn't fix this. Again, if you really think this new driver fixes above, please advise on how to install it on my machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171564 Title: Audio source setting is changed upon login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1171564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Here is pulsaudio's verbose log. I used the instructions found on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log and hibernated the machine after running that last line, then restored and hit CTRL+C to stop pulsaudio. ** Attachment added: "pulsaudio verbose log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1171564/+attachment/3651512/+files/pulseverbose.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171564 Title: Audio source setting is changed upon login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1171564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Affirmative. Is your headset is connected via usb? Assuming it is, I have a USB headset at work, and I can try these steps with it when I go back in tomorrow to see if I can re-create the problem.
