[Bug 1183204] [NEW] unity-tweak-tool overwrites custom config without user interaction
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Configure system exactly how you want it using gnome-tweak-tool and ccsm. 2. Run unity-tweak-tool and view each settings panel without changing any settings. What happens: Each panel you view resets all customized settings to the unity-tweak- tool defaults. For example, viewing the theme panel will reset the Gtk theme and window decorations to Ambiance, and viewing other panels will wipe out compiz shortcut key settings. What should happen instead: unity-tweak-tool should not change any settings unless I specifically click in the controls to change them. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: unity-tweak-tool 0.0.4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.30-generic 3.8.8 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu May 23 07:06:26 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-26 (26 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail - Release amd64 (20130424) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: unity-tweak-tool UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: unity-tweak-tool (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug raring third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183204 Title: unity-tweak-tool overwrites custom config without user interaction To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-tweak-tool/+bug/1183204/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That is a serious issue, except that I am unable to reproduce it. Can you upgrade to 0.0.5 from our PPA and check if the problem persists? Does opening unity-tweak-tool reset the settings or do you have to select each tab? Does this happen each time you use the application or only some times? If it does not happen always, can you try to isolate one test case when the bug can be reproduced reliably? like setting an environment variable or doing some actions in some order, etc. P.S : unity-tweak-tool does not have any default settings, at least none that I recall. It queries gsettings backend and updates the user interface when it starts. If any particular control doesn't, thats a bug and will be fixed when found. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183204 Title: unity-tweak-tool overwrites custom config without user interaction To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-tweak-tool/+bug/1183204/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1183204] [NEW] unity-tweak-tool overwrites custom config without user interaction
You have to actually select the tab, not just the icon on the front page. ie 1. Set window decorations to to Human using gnome-tweak-tool 2. Open unity tweak tool 3. Click theme icon 4. Click icons tab 5. Click theme tab Now window decorations revert to ambiance.
