  CID: 201206-11418 Dell Inspiron N5425

After the proprietary driver, fglrx-experimental-12, was installed via jockey,
this system is able to go hibernate and resume from it.

But occasionally, system will freeze on resume from hibernate, with garbled
display or black screen.
No HDMI output, and the LED of Caps Lock is not responding.

[Bug 1190949] Re: [Dell Inspiron N5425] System sometimes unable to resume from hibernate with fglrx

2014-01-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Po-Hsu Lin, as per the failures in your
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/142395964/fwts_results.log , and :
[ 0.250519] [Firmware Bug]: ACPI: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored :
...
[ 0.329418] [Firmware Bug]: ACPI: No _BQC method, cannot determine initial
brightness
[ 0.329615] [Firmware Bug]: ACPI: No _BQC method, cannot determine initial
brightness
...
[ 0.929298] [Firmware Bug]: powernow-k8: No compatible ACPI _PSS objects found.
[ 0.929298] [Firmware Bug]: powernow-k8: Try again with latest BIOS.

Hence, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-5425 an update is
available for your BIOS (A09). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.
