Well, it's been awhile. I still experience the problem, here and there. I've found limiting my CPU to 798 MHz instead of using the ondemand mode fixes the problem. But it's not really what I'd call a solution. -- Ridiculous slowdown after some heavy CPU usage. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119718 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I think the last two ones don't make much sense. This third one is much better. All messages from one restart to another, short and sweet. I restart the laptop both times because of the slowdown, of course. ** Attachment added: syslog3-best http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8155172/syslog3-best -- Ridiculous slowdown after some heavy CPU usage. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119718 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

hello thx for the additional info. gnome monitor and x are stressed. do you run programs as: kilba dock/ or other docks, eye candy, other system monitors? or did the cpu problem occur right away? would you please post your syslog in a document, to see of any usb device has turned wild. -- Ridiculous slowdown after some heavy CPU usage. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119718 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 119718] Re: Ridiculous slowdown after some heavy CPU usage.
Of kilba dock I've never heard, I don't use docks... no eye candy either... no other system monitors, no. The problem always occurs the moment I start doing something CPU intensive, like watching a movie or playing a game. I experienced another slowdown shortly before midnight tonight, reset the computer and I didn't connect to the wireless network. (On purpose.) Then I started the movie again and everything went fine... no slowdowns, nothing. I don't know what to expect anymore. :) I'm now also experiencing a lot of difficulty when it comes to connecting to my wireless network... Maybe it's related, I've no idea. Just thought I'd mention it. I really appreciate your help, thanks. :) The log file is huge... the laptop's been up the whole day... so I've cropped it.

** Description changed: I've had this problem for quite some time now, and it's starting to drive me nuts. Started out while watching movies. VLC media player would display the movie quite properly for about twenty minutes, and that's when the computer would start slowing down. In about ten seconds, the problem would rise from a somewhat choppy video to an almost completly unusable computer. It takes several minutes just to exit VLC media player. Running top via terminal shows nothing peculiar, the most CPU-eating process being xorg with anywhere from five to twenty percent. The problem happens when using Wine as well. World of warcraft, and Ubuntu with it, become complety useless after five minutes playing. There are absolutely no noticable problems for some time and, minutes later, I need to restart. I run Feisty on an Aopen 1557, one gigabyte of RAM, 1.3 GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon 9600. I use the ATI accelerated graphics driver, installed via the Restricted Drivers Manager thingy (System-Administration). - If you need any other info, I'm right here.
