Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been
reported, but feel free to report any other bugs you find. Describing
what you do to trigger the crash would be nice next time

[Bug 121065] Re: gnome-session-properties crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()

2007-06-18 Thread Brian J. Murrell
OK. I experimented a bit. First googled for startup_list_enable()
and found it was in gnome-session, so installed gnome-session-dbgsym (I
guess installing that one should have been obvious without even using
google). Which got me this stacktrace:

#0  0xb7895df8 in strcmp () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
#1  0x080500a9 in startup_list_enable (sl=0x8059f38, model=0x80819d0,

#9  0x0807eaf8 in ?? ()
#10 0x00b5 in ?? ()

Now, to get those next few frames, I tried:

$ dpkg -S /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
libgtk2.0-0: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0

Unfortunately I cannot seem to find a libgtk-2.0*-dbgsym package
currently. Maybe it's just a bit latent in showing up in the
repositories.

But then there is the first frame in the trace:

#0  0xb7895df8 in strcmp () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6

So, I:

$ dpkg -S /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
libc6-i686: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
$ sudo apt-get install libc6-dbgsym
...

But that doesn't seem to help with frame #1:

#0  0xb784ddf8 in strcmp () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
