[Bug 121708] Re: Network-manager 0.6.5 replaces /etc/resolv.conf (should stay a symlink)

2007-11-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this still an issue in
the latest version of network-manager (0.6.5-0ubuntu16) in the 7.10
Gutsy Gibbon release? Please let us know. Thanks in advance.

Don't have any trouble with network at the moment (on a fully uptodate
gutsy), so i guess this is fixed or just disappeared ;)

2007-06-27 Thread Mephisto
The last thing i need is dependencies on packages i don't need (never heard of
pdnsd before).
Networkmanager will *have* to update the dns config, because, how else is it
gonna set up the network? I just want the 0.6.4 behavior with regard to
/etc/resolv.conf back, it worked fine back then...

Ok, good point.
But please modify the file instead of replacing it, so I am able to
prepend the 127.0.0.1
I think that would be doable - what do you think?

[Bug 121708] Re: Network-manager 0.6.5 replaces /etc/resolv.conf (should stay a symlink)

2007-06-25 Thread katakombi
Generally it seems like a bad idea to fiddle with /etc/resolv.conf.
I run pdnsd which I recommend every user for breaking-through surfing speed
especially if you connect on a WLAN router.
PLEASE leave that file alone, if networkmanager needs to setup a DNS (which
might be a good idea) let it depend on pdnsd and change the config file for
that package instead!!
