[Bug 124856] Re: DiskFilesystems module does not load after plugging in iPod

2010-01-13 Thread Jonathan Thomas
Kubuntu 8.04 has reached the end of its supported life, and
unfortunately the Guidance user configuration tool and the Guidance
Power Manager were the only Guidance apps to survive. The rest were
removed from distribution and will not be receiving any more bugfixes.
Thanks for understanding, and have a nice day.

Closing the HAL task since HAL is depreciated and guidance was the only
thing exposing the bug.

[Bug 124856] Re: DiskFilesystems module does not load after plugging in iPod

2008-04-10 Thread Tom Helner
I am seeing the same behavior on a fully up to date (well as of 04/10/2008 @
10:30AM EDT) 8.04 Hardy Kubuntu install and my 1GB shuffle. I don't see
anything out of the ordinary in any log files or console output.
I am wondering if the issue that I have been having w/ Amarok not auto mounting
the Shuffle is at all related to this. Before the Amarok 1.4.9 update (last
last night) I could mount the ipod manually then connect it in Amarok. But
now w/ 1.4.9, Amarok will not connect at all, I am sure that this new 1.4.9
issue is a totally different issue all together, and I am currently looking for
a bug relating to it.

[Bug 124856] Re: DiskFilesystems module does not load after plugging in iPod

2008-03-27 Thread tulsoba
Found a temporary solution that uses the gnome-volume-manager. I have
made a script only containing the line gnome-volume-manager and put it
in:

~/.kde/Autostart

Now both my Maxtor disk and iPod are mounted on boot up. But I still get
the error in Disk Filesystems module:

The module Disk Filesystems could not be loaded.

The diagnostics is:

Possible Reasons:
* An error occured during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control
module
* You have old third party modules lying around

That's what kcontrol will tell you if the module crashes (which is
consitent with the previous crash report).

We need to check with Scott and see if his recent mountconfig fix
repaired this problem. I cannot reproduce this problem with either Gutsy
or Hardy and my iPod, however I will confirm due to the amount of me
too's. Thanks!

I have the same problem on Kubuntu 7.10 with my 20 GB third gen iPod.
When I remove it and reboot Disk Filesystem gives a correct overview
of my disks. Are there any solution for this, besides unplugging the
iPod?

my ipod was infact plugged in. i hadn't noticed it previously. when i
unplugged it, mountconfig aka Disk File systems module, came up
without a hitch.

kudos! job well done on this notorious bug. while this fix may not
work for all, it gives us an idea about what to look for in the future.

Sorry that took so long. Some update from feisty to gutsy made me lose
the ability to login to KDM. I could get to TTY, so I backed everything
up and reinstalled. Now I'm having no problems. Anyway, the problem
still exists in the Gutsy Release Candidate. Here's the output that
Luka requested.

2007-10-09 Thread Luka Renko
Can you start Disk Filesystems from command line when iPod is connected? Just
open Konsole and run the following command kcmshell mountconfig?
Can you provide output of mount when iPod is connected?

I'll be away from my Kubuntu computer for the rest of today and most of
tomorrow. I'll test this out around 2100 Zulu (5pm Eastern Daylight Time)
tomorrow (10 OCT 07).

Thanks!
