[Bug 1249134] Re: 0bda:016 Request mceusb blacklist for CoolBox CR-600
Tested the latest kernel available and the original problem still persists. Do you want me to test it again without mceusb in the blacklisted modules? This way we would know if the reader is now being properly recognized. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249134 Title: 0bda:016 Request mceusb blacklist for CoolBox CR-600 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1249134/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1249134] Re: 0bda:016 Request mceusb blacklist for CoolBox CR-600
Jason P., thank you for your comment. Did you test the latest, which is now http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13-rc6-trusty/ or the old v3.13-rc5? If testing both with and without the blacklist wouldn't be terribly inconvenient, this would be helpful.
Well, after dealing with this a little I remembered that mceusb was in the blacklist to get reading Smart Cards with this device. So, the module has nothing to do with USB keys or SD cards. In fact, now I can safely re-enable it without losing Smart Card functionalities. Better yet, I've managed to resolve the bug and it's easy to reproduce. 1) Insert an microSD or whatever card you have. 2) Once it's detected and automounted, right click the icon on Unity launcher and two options will appear. One is for safely removing the drive (the card) and the other just unplugs the device, because on its own for Ubuntu looks like a removable media since it is hooked to an internal USB port. In my opinion these two options could mislead the average user. Until now I was thinking they both serve for the same when the reality is that one is almost useless.
