I also had this problem, the same FreeCAD on two systems, on one selection works, on the other not. On the system where selection did not work, I started FreeCAD in a fresh user account and selection worked again. So I traced down the problem to ~/.FreeCAD/user.cfg, where in the non-working version the values EnablePreselection and EnableSelection were set to 0. I changed them to 1, selection works again. Below the user.cfg snipped to the relevant parts. However, I have no idea why or how these settings were activated, but the system ran 0.13 and earlier before. ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8 standalone=no ? You should not post a bug report here for the PPA version of the freecad package. This channel is for the package available in the official Ubuntu repositories, and the FreeCAD project does not maintain it. For bugs related to the FreeCAD PPA package, please use the project's bug tracker: http://www.freecadweb.org/tracker/ Please also note that with the release of v0.14 a few months away, we will not fix the current stable PPA. I recommend you use the Daily PPA instead. ThierryM: we recently added a new PPA dependency to our freecad-daily PPA. It's now linked to a new OCE PPA. OCE is a third-party library used as the geometric modeling kernel, and the version in Ubuntu is hopelessly outdated. I came across a similar bug, and was able to select faces and edges again after using a few tools... I was able to use the Box selection tool in the Edit menu (I was in the Part Design workbench, might matter) to select an object in my design (I selected, deselected, then selected again), et voila, I was able to single-left-click to select faces and edges again.
