kalehrl, could you uninstall zram, enable a 1GB swap, and advise if this is still reproducible? ** Tags added: needs-hibernate-debug -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254889 Title: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1254889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
Using the latest rc2 kernel, adding 1gb of swap and disabling swap (swapoff /dev/zram0) now when I try to hibrate, system just logs me out. [Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
kalehrl, you would want to completely uninstall zram, not disable it, and keep the 1GB of swap enabled. [Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
I did sudo dpkg --purge zram-config. Rebooted and verified that there is no zram used (cat/proc/swaps just shows /mnt/swap of 1gb). Tried to hibernate but it is the same as before, the system just logs me out. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254889 Title: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1254889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
I'm not sure really. I used Lubuntu 11.xx and then I switched to Windows XP. A couple of days ago I installed Lubuntu 13.10 and noticed this hibernate problem and a more serious one which I reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1254131 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254889 Title: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1254889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
kalehrl, for regression testing purposes, could you please test for this in Precise via http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/ and advise on the results? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254889 Title: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1254889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
Thank you for your help but I don't think I will bother with installing 12.04. Only in the case I can't get the other bug sorted, I may install 12.04 and see if these bugs exist on precise as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254889 Title: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1254889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
I've tested the linux-image-3.13.0-031300rc1-generic_3.13.0-031300rc1.201311221535_i386 and I get the same behavior. [Bug 1254889] Re: Dell latitude d505 hibernate/resume failure
kalehrl, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.
