[Bug 125790] Re: no suitable alsa driver for siemens c1410 laptop

2008-09-22 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It would help us greatly if you could test with the
current development version so we can work on getting it fixed in the
next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development
release and download the live cd at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . If
it is reproducible in the development version, please run the alsa-
info.sh script linked on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems
and post the link to the results. Thanks again.

2007-08-09 Thread obfuscator
Did you get a bunch of extra volume controls? You should have if you
used the benq settings. Try to crank up the headphone slider and
unmute it. Check that you've selected
all volume controls in preferences.

Other than that, I dont know. Attaching my config.

2007-07-26 Thread obfuscator
My theory is that the different models of laptops have channels hooked
up differently in hardware, and in this model the internal speakers are
hooked to some normally non-used output. The setup seems pretty similar
to the benq one, so to enable that just add

options snd-hda-intel model=benq

At the bottom of etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.

Then do /etc/init.d/alsasound restart to restart ALSA and see if you
get any sound from the speakers.

With this setup, the internal speaker volume can be adjusted with the
headphones volume slider, and the headpone jack can be adjusted
with the Front slider. Both mics work aswell!!

actually a speaker sink, it will not amplify the signal very much, since
