[Bug 125925] Re: kernel panic on boot in kubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 tribe 2 becouse of Apic
I am experiencing the same issue again with ubuntu 18.0.4 release. Tried noapic, boot repair, new ISO and older version (ubuntu 16.0.4). Updated M2N4-SLI firmware to latest version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125925 Title: kernel panic on boot in kubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 tribe 2 becouse of Apic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.22/+bug/125925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

False alarm. Turned out to be a problem with the mirror troubles causing me to get the wrong image and not checking the actual *filename*. [Bug 125925] Re: kernel panic on boot in kubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 tribe 2 becouse of Apic
I'm the user on IRC. Now that I can actually report it instead of swearing incoherently, here's what I found: Booting Kubuntu 8.04 LiveCD. Asus M2N4-SLI (latest stable bios), AMD 64 X2 5000+ 65w, 2x1024mb 800mhz Kingston ValueRAM, GeForce 9600GT. Trying just to boot - KERNEL PANIC. Exactly the same as original poster. Trying to boot with noapic added - modprobe crashes, system won't load. Booting with quiet removed in safe graphics mode - everything appears to work. -- kernel panic on boot in kubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 tribe 2 becouse of Apic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Taza, Thanks for the follow up. Can I get you to post the output of these once you boot into graphics safe mode: 1. Please include the output of the command uname -a in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture. 2. Please run the command dmesg dmesg.log and attach the resulting file dmesg.log to this bug report. 3. Please run the command lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log and attach the resulting file lspci-vvnn.log to this bug report. -- kernel panic on boot in kubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 tribe 2 becouse of Apic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I just downloaded tibe 5 for during those sugestion but I can only boot the live cd with the noapic option and then I dont have mouse or keyboard support (I can not write those commands). Would it help if I did boot in debian Etch and use the commands there? I belive that this bug is the same as 54621.
