Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. I did this: 1) ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa 2) uninstall manually some conflicts packages 3) use free graphic driver and now the upgrade process is ok.
