[Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
I have (preliminarily) resolved the issue using the LTS enablement stack to upgrade to 3.16.0-33-generic along with the appropriate Xorg packages using the posted commands here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330255 Title: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1330255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
Hello, I'm seeing the same behavior on my machine. (Dell Inspiron 3847) Here is the output of the commands you specified above (I have updated the bios to the most recent version, A05): $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date A05 08/18/2014 I am able to use the keyboard and mouse on kernel version 3.13.0-24-generic. All newer versions of the kernel are exhibiting the same Xorg behavior. I have also tried disabling numlock on boot, which doesn't resolve the problem for me. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330255 Title: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1330255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
Adam Alt, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product- support/product/inspiron-3847-desktop/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A05). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-a05 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330255 Title: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1330255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
I think I have find the problem New DELL keyboards haven't Numlock key but BIOS config has Numlock active on Yes. I've have changed it to No and problem vanishes. I suppose the system tries to change Numlock state and, if no movement is detected on keyboard or mouse all two became hanged. When the keyboard isn't a new DELL one, for some reason I don't know, sometimes doesn't work. I've changed all new Dell to Numlock Active to No -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330255 Title: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1330255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
With the today Ubuntu upgrade the problem appears on machines with no Dell keyboard. [Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
I have the same problem with Dell Inspiron 3847, but I've solved using an older keyboard, not Dell. [Bug 1330255] Re: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard
I have had this problem on the same hardware (Dell Inspiron 3847). Upgrading the kernel to 3.16.2 (using the mainline packages) seems to have solved it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330255 Title: Unable to Detect USB Mouse and Keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1330255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
