[Bug 134756] Re: [Gutsy]Brightness applet not working in Gutsy (worked in Feisty)

2007-12-05 Thread Anton Daneika
I do have that problem on Thinkpad X31

** Description changed:

I have an IBM Thinkpad T42 and the Gnome brightness applet does not seem
to function under the Gutsy Tribe5 LiveCD or after I've installed Gutsy
Tribe5. I can use the brightness keys on the Thinkpad to change the
actual screen brightness but the applet does not seem to function.

This applet works perfectly with the final version of Feisty. I've been
using it for months now and the applet will pop up a little window in
- the center of the screen when I use the Thnkpad's brightness keys to
+ the center of the screen when I use the Thinkpad's brightness keys to
adjust the brightness. This does not happen in Gutsy.

Yes this workaround works for me on my T43.
Brightness-applet,the on-screen display and the brightness sliders in g-p-m.
Thanks for this !

2007-11-18 Thread arturj
I tried just adding 'thinkpad_acpi' to '/etc/modules' and this also seems to
work for me on my T43.
Thanks for that workaround which of course works for me also.

[Bug 134756] Re: [Gutsy]Brightness applet not working in Gutsy (worked in Feisty)

2007-11-17 Thread GoPool
This problem can be fixed in Thinkpads by doing the following. I am
using an IBM T40 with Gusty by the way.

1. In the file '/etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.modprobe' change 'options
thinkpad_acpi hotkey=enable,0x8f experimental=1' to 'options
thinkpad_acpi hotkey=enable,0x experimental=1 fan_control=1'

2. In the file '/etc/modules' add this line 'thinkpad_acpi
hotkey=enable,0x experimental=1 fan_control=1'

After these changes, the brightness applet should work, there is also a
display on the screen whenever the brightness level is changed, and you
should also be able to see the brightness sliders in gnome-power-manager
that works.

2007-11-16 Thread losenzos
Same problem for me as well. I am running Gutsy on a Z61m Thinkpad.
Adjusting the brightness using the brightness-applet does not work
anymore, although I don't have the red circle in the applet. In Edgy or
Feisty this worked fine..

However, now I can use the FN Keys to set the brightness :) This did not
work using Feisty...

I just found out that the applet button works again, when setting the
dim property in the battery-mode to 0 % in the power-managment settings
:)

2007-10-19 Thread arturj
Same problems for me with Thinkpad T43. Worked perfectly with Feisty but
does not work on every gutsy version I tried so far (Tribe3, Tribe5,
Beta, Final). Properties of the Powermanagement-Applet does no show a
brightness-slider anymore. Brightness Applet also does not work. Only
FN+Pos1/End does change brightness but without the Display. Restarting
HAL does not work for me also.
