[Bug 1392038] Re: 8086:08b2 [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E440] Slow WiFi with Intel 7260 iwlwifi
robalrr, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.18-rc4 to 3.18-rc5 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. I have tried and using now the kernel 3.18 rC5 and the error seems not to be present there. Giovanni, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline one) via: ubuntu-bug linux For more on this, please read the official Ubuntu documentation: Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue Ubuntu Kernel Team: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Policies/DuplicateBugs Ubuntu Community: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it. [Bug 1392038] Re: 8086:08b2 [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E440] Slow WiFi with Intel 7260 iwlwifi
I think to have a similar problem with kernel 3.16.0 on Ubuntu 14.10, explained here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/544074/unstable-wireless- in-ubuntu-14-10 The problem was not present in 3.14, and seems to be resolved in 3.18 rc5: it does not crashes, but in this case the network seems to be slower than 3.14. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392038 Title: 8086:08b2 [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E440] Slow WiFi with Intel 7260 iwlwifi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1392038/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1392038] Re: 8086:08b2 [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E440] Slow WiFi with Intel 7260 iwlwifi
robalrr, let the scope of this report be returning the speed to that of Saucy. Once that issue is dealt with, then we may refocus onto going from Saucy speed to optimized. Hence, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel Saucy to Trusty in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. I tried Saucy and the problem seems not to there. The speed test reaches almost 2x the speed with Trusty and Utopic and the speed nerver falls while I was using Saucy.
