hi oliver, unfortunately this didn't resolve the problem. I guess you also tried sudo garmin_get_info? It that works then it could be a permission problem with your USB device. hi gahrb! I am also a Forerunner owner and had problems now and then. Your problem could be caused by the fact that Ubuntu loads the driver garmin_gps when a Forerunner is plugged in. This is fine for software that uses it. But the garmin-forerunner-tools or gpsbabel have own routines to access a GPS and are blocked by the driver.
