This also affects my MacBook Pro 11,1 with Retina Display running 15.04 (vivid). Brightness keys do not work. But command line /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/ does work for manual adjustment. ** Description changed: Hardware keys on an inspirion 3137 for brightness don't work. Manually setting the backlight via /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness - works properly. FTR, my Thinkpad X230 seems to work differently, the brightness keys are handled directly in hardware there. I don't get an evdev event nor the bubble notifications.
