Sorry for being fuzzy. This is what happens: # lightdm greeting screen comes up after boot as expected. # trying to log in from the lightdm greeting screen (with whatever user to whatever desktop environment) # X11 is stopped, screen falls back to vt (black screen with a few white characters on it) for half a second or so. There is some output (error message) on vt, but there is no time for me to read it. # lightdm greeting screen is started again. I'm still not logged-in (but I can try over and over again). Can you please elaborate on what unable to log in means, i.e. what happens? Does the computer freeze, or are you taken back to the login screen?
