Yes it obviously has been installed somehow (although not by me so there
must be a bug somewhere) as this was the output for that command:

[Bug 1409434] Re: System Settings for mobile on PC

2015-01-13 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
** Description changed:

- The other day I searched for the phrase System settings in my dash.
- And this is what came up: System_Settings_Gears.bmp
+ HOW TO REPRODUCE
+ - Upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10.
+ - In the Unity dash, search for the phrase system settings.

- I was rather confused by the second System Settings one with clock
- like gears which appeared, so I right-clicked on it for more
- information: System_Settings_Gear_Details.bmp
+ EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
+ - The desktop system settings to appear.

- I then went and opened this seconds System Settings which said that it
- is used for phones, tablets and convergent devices. And this is what I
- got: System_Settings_Phone.bmp
-
- I also went into each section and it really looked like those were the
- settings for a phone, it even had a vibration mode which was on, and
- lots of settings to do with mobile networks.
-
- Then I decided to search for it in the Ubuntu Software Centre, and I
- found it and its page (as you can see the Remove button is greyed
- out): System_Settings_Gears_UbuntuSoftwareCentre.bmp
-
- I installed Ubuntu on my machine a few weeks before it claims that the
- second System Settings was installed. I also have a VM running the
- same up-to-date version of Ubuntu that I have and that does not have
- this second System Settings installed on it, so it is probably not
- something that is meant to be installed there in some update or
- something.
-
- Also when I was turning my computer off and I clicked the Shutdown
- button on the dialog which asks you if you would like to Shutdown or
- Restart, and my screen froze for about two seconds and then this image
- with a dotted border around it flashed on my screen for a split second
- (it was too quick to take a screenshot of so this is the best that I
- have got): System_Settings_Phone.bmp
-
- I asked a question about it here:
- https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/260452 And was told that
- I should report it as a bug. So that is what I am doing.
-
- All images which have been referred to in this bug report are attached
- to this bug report.
+ REAL BEHAVIOUR
+ - Also appears the system settings for the phablet
(http://tinyurl.com/qdra33k), due to the ubuntu-system-settings package being
wrongly installed during distribution upgrade.

[Bug 1409434] Re: System Settings for mobile on PC

2015-01-12 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
The gnome-control-center package does not seem to be installed
although there are some folders to do with it on my system, but I only
know that from searching in Computer for gnome-control-center.

When typing it in in command-line I get this response (without double-quotes):

The program 'gnome-control-center' is currently not installed. You can install
it by typing:
sudo apt-get install gnome-control-center

When searching for gnome-control-center in Computer these are the result:
gnome-control-center_search_results.bmp

[Bug 1409434] Re: System Settings for mobile on PC

2015-01-12 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Also, when I go into the dash and search for System Settings and then
I right-click on the one that is not meant to be there, I get a
screenshot now of the proper one, but when I open it I still get the
phone settings (as shown in System_Settings_Phone.bmp ). So when I
right-click on it now it looks like this:
System_Settings_New_Details.bmp
