I can confirm this bug under Ubuntu 7.10, both using Compiz and not using it. I have only one screen (laptop, Acer Aspire 1694WLMi with ATI graphics card). I have a dual monitor setup, no compiz, 2x nvidia geforce (1x AGP, 1x PCI). I can reproduce the bug in totem on my primary monitor (i.e. the one with my Gnome panel on it), but not on my secondary (it works as expected there). For what it's worth, what I call my primary monitor is the one hooked up to the PCI card, an my secondary one is attached to the AGP card. This could be related to Gnome bug # 487931 [1] and Launchpad bug #153655.
