[Bug 1414341] Re: The program xpad failed to load on Lubuntu 15.04 LiveCd. An error message displayed, Could not open directory /home/lubuntu/.config/xpad. This directory is needed to store prefere

2015-01-24 Thread Istimsak
This bug can be easily fixed by manully creating the folder. However,
this folder should be created automatically by the program or already
included in the installed system.

2015-01-24 Thread Dave Kokandy
This appears to be a new problem since Alpha 2. I can confirm that xpad
was working without errors during testing of alpha 2.

I will download the Alpha 2 ISO and compare versions.

I have attached the output of ls -lR ~/.config
...there's nothing really there.

2015-01-24 Thread Dave Kokandy
Root owning ~/.config is definitely the cause of the problem.

At some point in the startup process, a file is written to
/home/lubuntu/.config/ubuntu-system-settings/wizard-has-run

Apparently it is written by root, causing root to own the file.

** Attachment added: output of ls -alR ~/.config

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xpad/+bug/1414341/+attachment/4305175/+files/ls-config.txt

** Summary changed:

- The program xpad failed to load on Lubuntu 15.04 LiveCd. An error message
displayed, Could not open directory /home/lubuntu/.config/xpad. This directory
is needed to store preference and pad information. Xpad will now close. After
manually creating the required folder, the error was fixed.r
+ Xpad fails to load on Lubuntu 15.04 LiveCD because root owns ~/.config
