[Bug 1428184] Re: Invisible mouse pointer after resume from suspend

2015-03-09 Thread Eduardo Rudas
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected has-workaround reproducible ubuntu vivid

** Description changed:

I'm using a Samsung NP305U1A-A05CO laptop. After the computer is
suspended, either by closing the lid, choosing the option on the menu or
by itself after the defined time, and then when I wake the computer the
mouse pointer is invisible, however the hardware itself is working as
mouse position and clicks continue working, only the pointer is
  invisible.

WORKAROUND: If I switch to a console with Alt+Shit+F1 and switch back to
X with Alt+Shift+F7 the mouse pointer appears and is back to normal.

WORKAROUND: After installing fglrx 14.50.2 proprietary AMD driver (doing
the modification explained in http://askubuntu.com/a/543836/378463 to
avoid ocl-icd-libopencl1/wine conflict) including the Catalyst Control
Center, the problem is resolved and now I can suspend and resume the
computer and the mouse pointer is visible after wake up as expected.

[Bug 1428184] Re: Invisible mouse pointer after resume from suspend

2015-03-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eduardo Rudas, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1428184] Re: Invisible mouse pointer after resume from suspend

2015-03-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eduardo Rudas, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. , Could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1428184

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1428184] Re: Invisible mouse pointer after resume from suspend

2015-03-04 Thread Eduardo Rudas
Hi Christopher,
I will try to test the bug using the latest development release, however it
could take a while as I'm traveling and since it's a suspend/resume issue I
don't think it's possible to reproduce it using an USB drive (my computer
doesn't have a DVD Drive) so I need to install it.
