[Bug 145324] Re: No sound after installing restricted driver
Sorry, I forget this bug. Everything is working fine for me since 8.04, so this bug can be closed. Note that I didn't test the last release, 8.10RC. Thanks! ** Changed in: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- No sound after installing restricted driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 145324] Re: No sound after installing restricted driver
Hi nikikko, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com) If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- No sound after installing restricted driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 145324] Re: No sound after installing restricted driver
I'm having the exact same problem. When I installed the ATI restricted drivers, it broke the sound, as did upgrading the linux-restricted- modules. Selecting the Open Sound System did not fix my problem. -- No sound after installing restricted driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 145324] Re: No sound after installing restricted driver
Solved (for me)! I compiled/installed the ALSA sources takem from their web site; yesterday I didn't noticed it was working because the volume was enough for the headphones but it was insufficient to hear from the speakers.
The same has happened to me! Everything worked on Ubuntu 7.04, I upgraded to 7.10 and I find that the monitor (16:9 TV) has big black lines on both the sides as 1024x768 is 4:3, To re-obtain 1360x768 I needed to use the ATI propriietary drivers. After a long time I did it, but the sound is no longer working. All the components are off-the-shelf, I did not compile anything (I mess up using the repository:). I read that the solution is 'activate OSS over Alsa'; I will do it by hand. What have I to do for doing it manually? I can't wait for the bug solution to have back the sound. -- No sound after installing restricted driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Assigned to canonical-xorg, this a dell laptop running ati restricted driver.
