2015-06-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Galen Thurber, after removing the backup video card, and swapping CPUs, it
would be best to hold off on filing a report upstream, and instead file a new
report on Launchpad regarding this new hardware configuration:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.

2015-06-09 Thread Galen Thurber
Should I work more on if is a hardware issue?
System locks with kernel 3.16 from Sparky Linux as well.
My backup video card Geforce 7900GT has died during testing.
Since I've switched CPUs and more errors appeared do you think it could a bad
or incompatible motherboard ASUS A8VM?
Rule out bad CPUs first?

[Bug 1460304] Re: kernel call traces, hard locks ups, nvidia

2015-06-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Galen Thurber, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could you
please report this problem to the appropriate mailing list (linux-
kernel) by following the instructions verbatim at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/kernel ?

Please provide a direct URL to your e-mail to the mailing list once you
have made it so that it may be tracked via http://vger.kernel.org/vger-
lists.html . It can take a day for the new e-mail to show up in the
respective archive.

Thank you for your understanding.

Galen Thurber, just to advise, you don't have to apport-collect further
unless specifically requested to do so.

Despite this, the latest mainline kernel is 4.1-rc6 (not 4.1-rc2).

[Bug 1460304] Re: kernel call traces, hard locks ups, nvidia

2015-06-03 Thread Galen Thurber
tried with kernel 4.1.0-040100rc2-generic
and 3041.25 updates
and 304.125
system properties claim 1 propriety driver is in use,
but
lsmod shows no such nvidia driver
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
shows nvidia fails to load.

I will try nouveau
but hoping to be able to go back to 3.16 kernel with 304 driver
