Thanks Seb. As Chris is saying, this might be specific to the unity8 in LXC session, so apologies if I filed it against the wrong project. It's difficult for me to say where bugs should be assigned, so I added both just in case. To answer the questions, I complete the wizard each time. It's not the full OOBE wizard, but just 2 steps of the wizard that shows how to use the launcher. I don't think unity8-desktop-session is affected by this, only unity8-lxc. I suspect $HOME is not set up correctly in the container, so when unity8 checks to see if ~/.config/ubuntu-system-settings/wizard- has-run is there, it does not find it due to $HOME not being correct...or at least that is my theory at the moment.
