Rahul: In order for your wifi to work you either need to be running running kernel version 4.1 or later or else be using a iwlwifi backport driver from that kernel version or later. Verify step: 1. Remove Intel 8260 module 2. Clean install Vivid/Trusty, and install Intel 8260 module back 3. Install 4.1 kernel which contains 8260 Wifi/BT driver 4. Check if the device works - no, can't find firmware as expected 5. Add -proposed repo and update, then install new linux-firmware 6. @Seth, the use case we have here is backports-4.2-rc1-1 (old name compat-wireless) as a dkms plus the vivid kernel. While the vivid kernel has some code to support Intel 8260, the highest firmware API it supports is -12 whereas the first firmware Intel released for this hardware is -13.
