Please note also that I added two new icons to the theme: volume-min and volume-max. They should be used along with the volume sliders (in the sound indicator menu and the System Settings sound menu) in place of the actual icons. Actually, the problem of legibility of these icons on the BQ is rather due to the low screen resolution and the fact we use scalable icons instead of pixel-perfect icons specifically designed for this size. Regarding your proposal, I have spoken with the visual design team and we are not keen to remove to arches when the volume is low, because the speaker alone would look very unbalanced compared to the other indicators and the spacing between the volume and the battery indicator would be too big.
