[Bug 1482085] Re: [Dell Latitude 3450] Wireless key will make the Intel 7265 [8086:095a] wireless chip unusable
Verified again on 201409-15477 Dell Latitude 3450, on 14.04.3 + update (3.19.0-31) This issue cannot be reproduced. Just with some minor glitch on the Bluetooth indicator, see bug 1514659 ** Description changed: - CID: 201409-15477 Dell Latitude 3465 + CID: 201409-15477 Dell Latitude 3450 The wireless key will make the wifi chip stop working after re-enabled. Reproduce rate is > 80% (It looks like if there is a wireless connection profile in the list this issue won't happen) Steps: 1. Install 14.04.2 (3.16.0-30), boot to desktop 2. Do not connect to the wireless network, disable the wireless network with the hotkey. 3. Re-enable the wireless network with the hotkey Expected result: * Wireless network successfully disabled and re-enabled without problem. AP available for connect. Actual result: * Wireless network can't be re-enabled, no AP found in the list. 03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 [8086:095a] (rev 3b) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 [8086:5400] Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 63 Memory at f710 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K] Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi Error message could be found in the dmesg output: [ 72.376877] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 4 at /build/buildd/linux-lts-utopic-3.16.0/net/wireless/core.c:949 cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call+0x571/0x630 [cfg80211]() [ 72.376879] Modules linked in: nls_iso8859_1 bbswitch(OE) bnep rfcomm snd_hda_codec_hdmi nvidia(POE) uvcvideo videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_memops videobuf2_core v4l2_common videodev media arc4 dell_wmi sparse_keymap iwlmvm mxm_wmi joydev mac80211 i915 dell_laptop dcdbas intel_rapl x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp coretemp kvm_intel kvm crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel aes_x86_64 lrw gf128mul glue_helper ablk_helper cryptd serio_raw btusb bluetooth 6lowpan_iphc i2c_hid hid snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic drm_kms_helper snd_soc_rt5640 snd_hda_intel snd_soc_rl6231 snd_hda_controller snd_soc_core snd_hda_codec snd_hwdep snd_compress snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event snd_rawmidi drm snd_pcm_dmaengine snd_pcm i2c_designware_platform iwlwifi snd_seq cfg80211 snd_seq_device snd_timer snd_soc_sst_acpi snd mei_me mei 8250_dw shpchp parport_pc lpc_ich soundcore dw_dmac i2c_designware_core i2c_algo_bit dw_dmac_core video ppdev spi_pxa2xx_platform acpi_pad mac_hid wmi lp parport uas usb_storage psmouse ahci r8169 libahci mii sdhci_acpi sdhci [ 72.376984] CPU: 0 PID: 4 Comm: kworker/0:0 Tainted: P OE 3.16.0-30-generic #40~14.04.1-Ubuntu [ 72.376986] Hardware name: Dell Inc. [Bug 1482085] Re: [Dell Latitude 3450] Wireless key will make the Intel 7265 [8086:095a] wireless chip unusable
It seems that this issue does not exist on 14.04.3 (3.19.0-31), just verified with 201409-15477. It will be affected by another indicator issue (BT enabled with indicator still grayed out, but the BT itself works). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1482085 Title: [Dell Latitude 3450] Wireless key will make the Intel 7265 [8086:095a] wireless chip unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1482085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
