2016-01-31 Thread Frank Kinscherff
Hi Christopher,

thanks for your fast response.

The Wifi I have in my Laptop has the following specs:

Card-2: Qualcomm Atheros Device 0042 bus-ID: 03:00.0
   IF: N/A state: N/A speed: N/A duplex: N/A mac: N/A
It should support IEEE 802 b/g/n(150,300MB) and ac.

I have attached two Pictures regarding status off Networkmanager and
more..

Will send the in a minute. Have to get an LAN connection established.

Regards

Frank

[Bug 1483494] Re: WIFI not working on Acer Aspire E5-573

2016-01-31 Thread Frank Kinscherff
I do have the same card installed. According to Acer datasheet the
integrated WiFi card uses Wireless LAN Standard IEEE 802.11ac, which is
pretty new. Could it be, that the driver is not ready yet?.

I'am running on my laptop:

$uname -a
Linux wotan 4.2.0-25-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 18 12:31:50 UTC 2016 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Please advice how to proceed. can do some

Thanks

Frank

P.S. I can help w/ some troubleshooting, but I'm not an expert in Wifi
drivers. So please give me detailed instructions so I can support you w/
input.

[Bug 1483494] Re: WIFI not working on Acer Aspire E5-573

2015-10-16 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Michael Stenta, you need to use the default Ubuntu kernel (not mainline)
when using apport-collect.

However, reporting to bugzilla is the wrong venue as it is legacy, and
reporting upstream at all is premature as you are using an old kernel
that isn't supported anymore.

Regarding this report, the original reporter would want to provide the
previously requested information first, before merging as this report is
easier to work with. The results may be integrated into the other report
then.

[Bug 1483494] Re: WIFI not working on Acer Aspire E5-573

2015-10-15 Thread Michael Stenta
Thanks Christopher - I'm new to launchpad issue queues - not 100%
familiar with the standard procedures...

I tried running "ubuntu-bug linux" on the laptop in question (Acer
E5-573G), but received:

"It appears you are currently running a mainline kernel. It would be
better to report this bug upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/ so
that the upstream kernel developers are aware of the issue. If you'd
still like to file a bug against the Ubuntu kernel, please boot with an
official Ubuntu kernel and re-file."

I assume that is because I am running the 4.2.3 kernel. Should I switch
back to 3.19, and try again? Or should this bug be posted upstream
instead?

Also, I found this issue which is exactly the same (and reported by the
same person):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1484159

Should they be merged? Or should this all be pushed upstream? Again,
sorry for my unfamiliarity with procedure here...

I can confirm that this is an issue.

I dug into this a bit and found that the Qualcomm Atheros 168c:0042 is
not yet supported in the Linux kernel Ath10k drivers (0041 was just
added recently).

2015-10-05 Thread Sandeep Singh
Thank you christoper for providing a latest iso tested image. I burned a
ISO and tried to check on my laptop.

This iso has a bug. After installation, when i restarted my laptop for a
very first time. I got a strange error and i couldn't able to use
anything. Screenshot attached.

So many bugs. Now mouse pad is not even detecting. I don't think this is
ever gonna resolve. I bought a new laptop just for linux but now i have
no choice but to use windows(which i always hated).

Advice to those who love linux, don't ever purchase laptop with latest
hardware.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.2 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.
