[Bug 1495479] Re: Strange dimming effect when setting sRGB image as desktop background image and activating desktop icons

2018-06-07 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Well, on Arch the issue, (as I said before) doesn't seem to be present.
However can't you just check yourself? It should be quite easy to
reproduce if it's still a bug. If it is, then as it says "Fix released"
for the upstream bug, then surely you can fix it downstream as well. And
if not, then we can close the bug!

2017-05-18 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
I don't run Ubuntu any more as my primary system, however on Arch with
GNOME 3.24.2 I do not experience the issue any more. I will test on my
Ubuntu VM in a bit and let you know about 17.04.

[Bug 1495479] Re: Strange dimming effect when setting sRGB image as desktop background image and activating desktop icons

2016-02-05 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
I still experience this issue on Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with GNOME 3.18.

** Tags added: wily

** Description changed:

I have recently noticed that when setting sRGB images as the desktop
image, and having the desktop icons active (gsettings set
  org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true) that there is a
strange dimming effect, so I turn my machine on, log on, and then I see
my image normally for a few seconds, then suddenly it is dimmed and
stays like that, there are only a few seconds on login that I can then
  see it normally for.

But I find that if I set desktop icons to inactive (gsettings set
org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false) that the problem
goes away until I reactivate them, in which case the immediate moment
that I turn them back on in the settings the desktop image dims.

However this does not occur with just normal RGB or PNG images.
