[Bug 150091] Re: Asus Laptop: ACPI driver

2008-11-22 Thread gart
But can you juste tell me witch commande do I need.
because I have understand what i need to do:
a file event in /etc/acpi/events/ like

# /etc/acpi/events/asus-display-switch
# This is called when the user presses Fn+F8 and calls
# /etc/acpi/display-switch.sh for further processing.

event=hotkey ATKD 006[123]
action=/etc/acpi/asus-display-switch.sh '%e'

with the right keycode from acpi_listen

but after the commande in the sh script is not good anymore.

echo $1 | sed -re 's/^hotkey ATKD 0+6([1-3]) [0-9a-f]+$/\1/'
/proc/acpi/asus/disp

or do you know witch personne do i need to contact?

thank you!

best regards

[Bug 150091] Re: Asus Laptop: ACPI driver

2008-11-10 Thread gart
Hi.
I have Intrepid nistalled on my Asus M51sn and I don't have support for some
fonction-key
particulary switching the display with fn+F8
how can I don for resolve this problem?
contact the kernel team? how?
I can provid codes like with sudo acpi_listen
because I don't manage to know what are the things to do:
modify /usr/share/hotkey-setup/asus.hk ?
modify /etc/acpi/events
I find several solutions but all are quite dated..
thank for your help

I don't think Fn+F8 for changing displays is or will be supported. If you
have an nvidia card I suggest you use nvidia-settings to setup your
secondary display.

[Bug 150091] Re: Asus Laptop: ACPI driver

2008-08-29 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

Re: [Bug 150091] Re: Asus Laptop: ACPI driver

2008-02-12 Thread franjesus
I believe it depends on the BIOS version you have. Mine is 301 and they
don't work, with edgy (or dapper, I don't remember) they used to work, but
since I updated the BIOS they stopped working. acpi_listen doesn't generate
any events when brightness keys are pressed, so I don't believe you can fix
it with a workaround in asus-laptop (or asus_acpi) or acpid configuration.

[Bug 150091] Re: Asus Laptop: ACPI driver

2008-02-11 Thread franjesus
I fixed my brightness keys by changing the DSDT. The modified DSDT is
here:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1889964group_id=81433atid=562934

I believe that it should be corrected at the acpica level, but the
problem is that the DSDT checks for the name of the OS and if it's
Linux, it doesn't generate ACPI events for the brightness keys! (naughty
Asus).

Anyway, I don't see how it can be solved but by modifying the DSDT. Just
a dirty quick fix, but it works.
