[Bug 1512634] Re: Mouse pointer gets distorted / broken on dual screen setup

2016-07-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stein-Magne Pedersen, to see if this is already resolved, could you
please test http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to
the results?

** Description changed:

The mouse pointer is fine at boot, but after working a couple of minutes
it gets distorted. I move my mouse pointer back and forth between my two
- screens all the time. The actual distortion happends randomly on the
- "screen swich" and when I move my pointer on one of my screens.
- Sometimes I can see a slightly distortion and if I move my mouse pointer
+ screens all the time. The actual distortion happens randomly on the
+ "screen switch" and when I move my pointer on one of my screens.
+ Sometimes I can see a slight distortion and if I move my mouse pointer
on top of a scrollbar its back to normal. But just for a little while,
- then its permanently distorted. And it happends only on one of the
+ then its permanently distorted. And it happens only on one of the
screens, never on both at the same time.
+
+ WORKAROUND: disabled the fglrx drivers.

[Bug 1512634] Re: Mouse pointer gets distorted / broken on dual screen setup

2016-07-08 Thread Stein-Magne Pedersen
Sorry for not responding earlier.
I have updated my bios but the issue still remains.
Output from terminal:
1604
10/16/2012

I can't give any more spesific details than my original post. But I can
say that I disabled the fglrx drivers and the problem went away, but I
don't get the benefits of my graphics card so I don't really want to do
that.

[Bug 1512634] Re: Mouse pointer gets distorted / broken on dual screen setup

2015-11-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stein-Magne Pedersen, thank you for reporting this and helping make
Ubuntu better.

As per
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1604).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.
