[Bug 1513526] Re: Rapid resume & suspend could damage laptop
Still happen, using latest bios: J5ET49WW (1.20 ) 10/22/2015 1. Suspend laptop by closing laptop lid when battery almost low (around 6%) 2. put it in bag 3. laptop will wake up again, when battery <5% 4. because lid is still closed, it will try to suspend again 5. repeat 3 rapidly I have workaround for this case: change HandleLidSwitch=poweroff in /etc/systemd/logind.conf Hope this can save some laptops :) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1513526 Title: Rapid resume & suspend could damage laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1513526/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1513526] Re: Rapid resume & suspend could damage laptop
Biji, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and- netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-e450 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.20). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it address the issue? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1.20 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1513526 Title: Rapid resume & suspend could damage laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1513526/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1513526] Re: Rapid resume & suspend could damage laptop
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.3 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
