[Bug 151805] Re: flash hangs firefox on gusty 64

2008-11-12 Thread footer
I've been running 8.10 for a couple of weeks now (actually since the day
after it was released - 10/31/08) and I have not seen this issue
reappear. I'm still running the same hardware as when I posted to this
thread on 10/20/07.

Thanks.

I am not running 8.10 yet, probably won't get to upgrade for another
week or two.

I assume you want me to test on the same hardware as 7.10

thanks

This happens when you're trying to install nspluginwrapper -i
from a symlink. I think.

I did what vwingate said, and then make sure is
/usr/lib32/nsbrowser/plugins/libflashplayer.so or whatever the 32-bit
plugin directory is.

2008-05-05 Thread LimCore
ubuntu 8.04 amd64 nvidia, 3d desktop/compiz (but not xgl)
firefox (new profile, no plugins etc)
freezes while playing flash, so I have to terminate it.

Often an empty window named npviewer.bin (or something) pops up and I have to
close it.

[Bug 151805] Re: flash hangs firefox on gusty 64

2007-10-20 Thread vwingate
I had the same problem on AMD64. I posted this fix that worked for me
over here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nspluginwrapper/+bug/152583

1) Uninstall flashplugin-nonfree if installed through synaptic.
2) Get a list of any Flash remains with nspluginwrapper -l
3) For me this showed a combination of 0.91.94 and 0.91.95 versions. I manually
deleted every file listed.
4) Run nspluginwrapper -l again and confirm no files listed.
5) Then I installed flashplugin-nonfree again through synaptic.

same error, also on gutsy 64...
when i run firefox from terminal and i visit a website with flash content it

If (using Synaptic) I reinstall Flash and then everything seems to work fine,

tried also this workaround i used in feisty with success but it's not working

I have two related problems:

Opera 9.5 for 64 bits crashes when loading flash pages:

This one with workaround fix: Firefox gives a segmentation fault (core
dumped) error and doesn't start:

Please let me know if it is related with this bug and if i can help to

[Bug 151805] Re: flash hangs firefox on gusty 64

2007-10-13 Thread footer
I have this exact same problem. I'm running gutsy on 64-bit as well.
It happened after the recent update as the original poster stated.
Here's the error when launched with safe-mode:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/crash$ firefox -safe-mode
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libartsdsp.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be
preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libartsc.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be

preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libartsc.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be
preloaded: ignored.

There are no crash files for firefox in /var/crash I did the same thing
as the original poster as far as manually installing Flash with
nspluginwrapper before updating to Gutsy Gibbon.

Please let me know if you need any further information to help
troubleshoot.

Thanks!

[Bug 151805] Re: flash hangs firefox on gusty 64

2007-10-12 Thread Thor
Hi Alexander,
It does indeed cause the same errors ("[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ firefox -safe-mode
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so
[/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32]

[/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32]
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPP_New() invoke: Message timeout") when
running in safemode.

When this happens (any time a page has flash embeded in it) Firefox
hangs for maybe 30 seconds and then comes back to life. Also, the flash
content obviously does not display.

I've attatched firefox crash file.

Can you reproduce this issue? Maybe it doesn't happen when you run
firefox in safe-mode like:

 # firefox -safe-mode

?

Further, please look in /var/crash and submit the crash report.

Thanks,
