[Bug 1529681] Re: Please sync Electrum from Debian testing

2016-04-20 Thread Adam Conrad
The reasons for removing all things related to crypto-currency protocols
haven't changed. These sorts of packages aren't remotely supportable in
a stable distribution model.

** Changed in: electrum (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Won't Fix

[Bug 1529681] Re: Please sync Electrum from Debian testing

2015-12-30 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
Current state of issues describer in bug 1481003:

> tlslite dependency
Electrum doesn't depend on tlslite since 2.4.1, current version in Debian
repository is 2.5.4.

> poor handling of certificate verification
Electrum correctly check certificates. Confirmation:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=792231#42

As I understand other concerns simply boiling down to old version
obsolescence - due to nature of this software this package will need to
be updated in the future as well - it's big issue?

[Bug 1529681] Re: Please sync Electrum from Debian testing

2015-12-30 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting.

Through the publishing history for this package, I found that electrum
has not only been removed from Ubuntu, it has been blacklisted to keep
it from syncing as well. Bug 1481033 talks a bit about the concerns
regarding this package, though I don't know whether that has changed in
the meantime.

Since the package is blacklisted, the archive team probably needs to
weigh in, so I've taken the liberty of subscribing them to this bug
repot.
