And while you're at it make sure your PPAPI Flash plugin is up-to-date too by running sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree {--status | --install} if you got it from pepperflashplugin-nonfree, and by updating adobe-flashplugin via apt if you got it from adobe-flashplugin. Might as well update both the plugin and the wrapper. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1544221 Title: FreshPlayerPlugin display vCenter fonts incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freshplayerplugin/+bug/1544221/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1544221] Re: FreshPlayerPlugin display vCenter fonts incorrectly
In the meantime, you could simply fetch 0.3.4 from another source than Wily's repositories. When I need a newer version of a package that is not in the Ubuntu release I use, I do one of the following: 1. Add a PPA that provides it, and install the package via apt. I currently use Alin Andrei's (WebUpd8), which provides the releases of FreshPlayerPlugin, and I've just found out about Giovanni Santini's, which provides daily builds: https://launchpad.net/~nilarimogard/+archive/ubuntu/webupd8?field.series_filter=wily https://launchpad.net/~itachi-san/+archive/ubuntu/freshplayerplugin?field.series_filter=wily 2. Download the .deb file from a newer release of Ubuntu, unless it causes dependency hell. I dpkg-scanpackages a small set of .deb files I've downloaded that way or from various printer/scanner vendors, so that it forms a small local repository that I can add to my sources.list and use with apt. But I've heard you can also double-click on the .deb file. http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/browser-plugin-freshplayer- pepperflash 3. Download the .deb file from Debian Sid, if it is only there, which happens after DebianImportFreeze and before the start of a new Ubuntu development branch. As with the previous one, this method requires dependencies to be met without too much hassle. https://packages.debian.org/sid/browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash 4. Compile the latest upstream release. This is not necessarily difficult but requires slightly more brain usage than installing precompiled packages. https://github.com/i-rinat/freshplayerplugin#install -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1544221 Title: FreshPlayerPlugin display vCenter fonts incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freshplayerplugin/+bug/1544221/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1544221] Re: FreshPlayerPlugin display vCenter fonts incorrectly
It says on the link you posted that this bug was fixed in version 0.3.4, whose Debian package was uploaded to Debian Sid a few days ago. Since we're before DebianImportFreeze this package was imported automatically into Ubuntu's development release. So your issue is fixed in Xenial: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/browser-plugin-freshplayer- pepperflash I'm not sure it will be fixed in Wily since it is a stable release and software in stable releases tends to be less updated by definition. After all, FreshPlayerPlugin is still at 0.3.2 in Wily, not 0.3.3: http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash Besides it's a multiverse package, and there is a large number of universe/multiverse packages relatively to the resources of the team that maintains them (the MOTU team). The majority of these packages don't receive personal attention from an Ubuntu developer, and stay at their original version, or so I have found out in my personal experience. If I understand correctly, for this package to be updated in Wily, it would have to go through the StableReleaseUpdate procedure, whose description is unfortunately beyond my understanding. I think Vincent can make sense of it though since he's the Debian maintainer: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubuntu/ForDebianDevelopers https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1544221 Title: FreshPlayerPlugin display vCenter fonts incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freshplayerplugin/+bug/1544221/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
