[Bug 156048] Re: [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes
I just tested Hardy Alpha 2 and this works as expected. Well done everybody involved in getting this working! ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 156048] Re: [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes
Leann, Suspend to RAM does not work for me, but for a different reason ( Bug 150109). I try to test each release anyway ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/DellInspiron510m ) so I will probably wait until Alpha 2 and test that properly. I will post my results. Thanks. -- [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 156048] Re: [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes
Hi Leann, I have the same problem as Aaron. I try to do like you wrote before: I installed new kernel image, and(I decided by myself) to do the apgrade of a lot of packages. The result it was no so good, I mean the hibernate was working properly but I got this problems: 1. I could not finish the upgrade because the synaptic was unable to find python-brlapi. 2. Wireless connection was not working. 3. I got 4/5 system crash. 4. My laptop seems working slowly, also when I removed the new kernel image and reboot with the old one. Anyway thank you for your tip, I hope my experience can help your work. Greetings Antonello. -- [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 156048] Re: [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes
Hi Antonello, Thanks for the update. It sounds like Hibernate does work for you with the new kernel, so in regards to this bug report, it seems like the Hibernate issue may be fixed with the new kernel. You'll want to open a new bug report for each of the new issues you see. I'd actually recommend that you maybe wait for the official Hardy Alpha2 to come out and retest to verify these other issues still exist before making these new bug reports. I expect Alpha2 to come out around Dec 20. I can update this report when it is released. I'll wait to see if the new kernel also resolves the Hibernate issue for Aaron before closing this report. Thanks! ** Tags added: hardy-alpha2 -- [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156048 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 156048] Re: [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes
Hi Aaron, Just out of curiosity, does Suspend work for you? Or is that broken as well? Also, the Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1 LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to manually install the newer Hardy Heron kernel in order to test. This should not be the case for Alpha2 which is set to come out around Dec 20. However, here are the instructions to install if you choose to do so, otherwise just wait for Alpha2 to come out: 1) edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and add the following line: deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy main restricted 2) sudo apt-get update 3) sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic 4) reboot and select the new kernel from the grub menu After you've tested, please feel free to revert back - ie boot into the old kernel, sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic, and remove the line from /etc/apt/sources.list . Please update this report with your results. [Bug 156048] Re: [Gutsy, Regression] Hibernate on Dell Inspiron 510m immediately re-awakes
I'm opened a new task against the actively developed kernel. However, I'm closing the report against linux-source-2.6.22 as it does not meet the criteria for a stable release update. You can learn more about the stable release update process at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates .
