[Bug 1574005] Re: HDMI connection not working on Ubuntu 16.04 and GeForce GTX 960M

2016-07-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Oliver (aunicorn), it will help immensely if you filed a new report with Ubuntu
by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the
Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the following
from a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

For more on why this is helpful, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1574005] Re: HDMI connection not working on Ubuntu 16.04 and GeForce GTX 960M

2016-07-27 Thread Oliver
In my case it helps to restart the service lightdm (sudo service lightdm
restart) - this works around 50% of the time, but in some cases the
system freezes afterwards and a hard reset has to be performed.

Another issue is that if the second monitor goes to sleep it is not
waking up afterwards.

2016-07-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
ghi, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

Could you please run the following command once from a terminal by ensuring you
have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for
attaching additional debugging information:
apport-collect -p xorg 1574005

When reporting xorg related bugs in the future, please do so via the
above method. You can learn more about this functionality at

[Bug 1574005] Re: HDMI connection not working on Ubuntu 16.04 and GeForce GTX 960M

2016-06-20 Thread Jose Barakat
Same problem in 16.04 with "Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz"
Lenovo Laptop. While HDMI cable is connected, TV shows "no signal".

Comfirming that:
- LG TV's HDMI ports work.
- HDMI cable works (under Win7).
- Laptop can detect active HDMI connection (through xrandr)

Terminal output:
~$ xrandr --verbose
http://pastebin.com/BMibevGY

~$ sudo get-edid | parse-edid
http://pastebin.com/DZxFZj9j

~$ aplay -l
http://pastebin.com/T5PQ8baN

[Bug 1574005] Re: HDMI connection not working on Ubuntu 16.04 and GeForce GTX 960M

2016-05-25 Thread Panayiotis-Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos
I have had some kind of success on this front. In order to get Lubuntu
to boot and install I added nomodeset and idle=nomwait in the linux
parameters in grub. I found here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2042773 that nomodeset is the
thing that is preventing the HDMI from working. I tried it (removing
nomodeset but keeping idle=nomwait) and the first time I managed to boot
and have the HDMI working perfectly. When I reboot though I had to reset
the nomodeset parameter in order for me to be able to boot into Lubuntu
again.

[Bug 1574005] Re: HDMI connection not working on Ubuntu 16.04 and GeForce GTX 960M

2016-04-23 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1574005/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
